Fusion Lifestyle are hiring an Energy and Sustainability Manager.

Fusion Lifestyle has the mission to bring health and wellbeing to communities across the UK.  We are a registered charity and we invest back into the communities that we serve.  This is a Hybrid remote/homeworking role however the ability to travel extensively to sites is essential. Our head office is based in Dartford and we encourage our head office team to work collaboratively from the Head office as per our business needs.

Who You Are:

You are passionate about Net Zero carbon programs as well as having extensive experience and understanding of the fundamental role sustainability plays in how we operate our business and the benefits it can bring to our partners.  You are an expert on compliance and audits who stays up to date with all the relevant legislation as well as being a champion of best practice.

What You Will Do:

You will be responsible for the development and delivery of the Fusion Lifestyle sustainability strategy by being responsible for all aspects of energy and environmental management within the estate.  Overseeing the environmental performance of the organisation and maintaining the ISO 14001 environmental management system. Working with local authority clients to help them achieve their Net Zero goals. You will be tasked to maintain and upgrade our centre to adapt and tackle the challenges of climate and energy sourcing within the business

Some of your tasks will be;

Energy

  • Manage council contractual requirements around recharging of energy based on benchmark calculations.
  • Actively manage our energy brokers to ensure the business optimises buying opportunities for future gas and power requirements.
  • Ensuring energy monitoring data is collected regularly and accurate records are maintained using manual readings and Automatic Meter Reading platforms
  • Conducting analysis to identify where energy consumption can be reduced
  • Preparing and implementing new energy saving and control initiatives and measuring the performance of initiatives to ensure effectiveness
  • Identifying and developing business cases for measures that will reduce energy and carbon impacts
  • Benchmarking energy consumption against best practice guidelines and other leisure sites;
  • Providing support to the operational teams in ways to manage and reduce energy use at each centre
  • Carrying out internal site energy audits
  • Liaising with and providing technical support to the FM team on new building and refurbishment projects, focussing on sustainability, energy efficiency and water conservation
  • Leading on utility procurement and bill validation
  • Producing annual budgets for site utility costs
  • Collating data necessary for the recharging of utility costs to tenants and clients
  • Ensuring compliance with ESOS (Energy Saving Opportunity Scheme) and SECR (Streamlined Energy & Carbon Reporting) requirements
  • Developing promotional activities and materials to publicise internal energy-saving schemes and campaigns
  • Working with clients to achieve their carbon reduction goals, including the development of funding applications where applicable e.g. Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme

Environmental

  • Ensuring compliance with ISO 14001:2015 and overseeing external certification audits
  • Carrying out internal EHS audits
  • Meeting with clients to update on environmental performance
  • Keeping up to date with environmental legislation and ensuring compliance with, in particular Waste Transfer Notes, Trade Effluent Consents, Display Energy Certificates, TM44
  • Providing training and guidance to centre managers and environmental champions on energy efficiency and environmental management
  • Driving sustainability improvements across the business
  • Procuring and managing waste contractors
  • Developing environmental method statements to support the ITT process for new clients
  • Developing the corporate sustainability strategy and providing a framework for local, centre level objectives
  • Writing internal board and executive reports of environmental performance
