The EMA approves ESOS Lead Assessors on an individual basis after they’ve successfully completed our 4-step process (application pack, training, assessment and interview). The process can be undertaken by applicants with a minimum of 2 years of good quality relevant professional energy management and energy audits/assessments experience relevant to the PAS 51215 capabilities.

The EMA ESOS lead assessor process:

Step 1: Submit a completed application form together with an up-to-date CV, copies of relevant qualification/certificates (BA, BSc, MA, MSc, etc) and agree to the EMA Code of Conduct prior to applicant’s attendance of a one-day training course: ‘EMA Become an ESOS Lead Assessor‘ .

Step 2: Complete a one-day training course: `EMA Become an ESOS Lead Assessor`. The course is delivered as a live tutor-led session on Zoom (09:30-15:00). Find the course date here.

Step 3: Successfully complete a written post-course assessment.

Step 4: Successfully complete a peer review interview.

It takes approximately 4-6 weeks to complete the Steps 2 to 4 of the process. The cost of the entire process, including a 3-year registration as the EMA ESOS Lead Assessor, is £1,500+VAT per applicant. There is an option to continue annually renewing the professional status after the initial 3-year registration.

Please note that if approved as the EMA ESOS Lead Assessor, you will be required to complete a minimum of 10 hours of CPD per annum and report it to the EMA.
