FELLOWSHIP STATUS
1.1 The EMA Fellowship represents the highest level within the EMA membership structure. The EMA Fellowship represents:
- A prestigious recognition and acknowledgement of an individual’s contributions and expertise in energy management.
- An enhanced professional credibility of an individual's reputation and position as a trusted leader within the industry.
- A career milestone of an energy management career, recognising hard work, dedication and long-term commitment to the industry and profession.
- A demonstrated industry leadership, influence and role in shaping the direction of the energy management industry.
1.2 Individuals awarded the EMA Fellowship status are expected to play a crucial role in delivering and upholding the aims and objectives of EMA, which are to:
- Champion and advance the energy management agenda, sector and profession.
- Enhance and help to shape the vision of the profession.
- Develop relevant documents, guidance, event content, standards and policies to support the growth of the energy management sector and profession.
- Support new entrants to the energy management sector.
FELLOWSHIP BENEFITS
2.1 As holders of the highest level within the EMA membership structure, the EMA Fellowship benefits include:
- A professional affiliation for employment purposes.
- Use of the EMA Fellow logo.
- Routes to Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programmes, resources and events to stay up to date with industry trends and advancements - through access to monthly newsletters, 30% discount on virtual workshop fees, 5% discount on training courses and networking events.
- Speaking and editorial opportunities for professional and industry advancement.
- Mentoring opportunities.
- Free entry to the EMA Energy Management Awards.
- Participation in policy consultations, policy developments, membership surveys and working/special interest groups.
FELLOWSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
Those approved as EMA Fellows are subject to the following responsibilities:
3.1 EMA Fellows must keep their employment and contact details up to date by contacting the EMA’s Membership Services Manager on the email below.
3.2 EMA Fellows must adhere to the EMA Code of Conduct and these Fellowship Terms and Conditions. Failure to do so may result in termination of the Fellowship.
3.3 The EMA Fellows must renew their Fellowship status every three years. See details on the renewal process below.
3.4 The EMA Fellows must actively engage with the EMA by:
- Contributing to topical content via EMA channels (annually); and
- Participating in a fellowship survey (biennially).
3.5 The Fellowship status awarded must be displayed appropriately as EMA Fellow. Post-nominal letters are not awarded as part of the EMA membership.
3.6 The Fellowship is based on individual (non-corporate) basis and as such cannot be linked to any commercial company, service and/or product, and is not a mark of a company, service or product endorsement by the EMA. Furthermore, Fellowship of the EMA does not entitle to the use of the EMA logo.
3.7 The Fellowship details that are held on record include information provided during the application/approval process – full name, employer, job title, contact email address, postal address, CV and any other information included or provided at a later date linked to the membership/Fellowship of the EMA. 3.8 EMA Fellows are eligible to receive membership discounts for events only if they are Fellows both at the time of booking and on the day/s the event is being held. Individuals who do not meet these criteria will not be eligible for the membership discounts.
3.9 EMA has no liability for advice provided through our events by EMA Fellows or recommended third parties.
3.10 Any actions or behaviour by Fellows which brings the EMA into disrepute may result in termination of the Fellowship at the discretion of the EMA.
FELLOWSHIP RENEWAL PROCESS
4.1 The EMA Fellowship renewal is a two-step process.
Step 1 – Administration Fee
The renewal is subject to the payment of an administration fee. The fee, covering a three-year period, is currently set at £180+VAT. Fellows who are fully retired from full-time employment are exempt from this fee. Exemption due to retirement must be requested by contacting the EMA here.
Step 2 – Renewal Questionnaire
Fellows must complete an online form to update their details and provide evidence of activities undertaken during the relevant period, in line with the Fellowship Terms and Conditions.
These Fellowship Terms and Conditions are revised annually.
