EMA Membership Terms and Conditions

Last Updated: 7 July 2026

1. The EMA Membership comprises four levels: Affiliate, Associate, Member and Fellow. All levels are subject to an administration fee, payable at joining and at renewal. All new applicants are admitted at the Affiliate level upon joining. Progression to Associate, Member or Fellow is available through defined upgrading routes, each with its own eligibility criteria and associated fees. Membership at the Affiliate, Associate and Member levels is awarded on an annual basis, while Fellowship is granted for a three year term.

2. The administration fees payable are non-refundable and applications or renewals linked to the payment must be submitted to the EMA within 20 business days of the fee payment date. If the 20 business days submission window is missed, a new fee payment will be required.

3. An EMA Member may apply or be invited to become a Fellow if they have been engaged in a position of significant responsibility in the promotion or management of energy, and can demonstrate compliance with criteria set by the EMA Board of Directors.

4. The membership status awarded should be displayed appropriately as follows: EMA Fellow, EMA Member, EMA Associate, EMA Affiliate. Post-nominal letters are not awarded as part of the EMA membership.
