The Energy Managers of the Future

Richard Felgate, Chairman, The Energy Managers Association

Richard is responsible for all aspects of Energy, Environment & Sustainability Management at leading restaurant and pub company Mitchells & Butlers. With over 1,500 businesses covering brands such as Harvester, All Bar One, Toby Carvery, Nicholsons and Browns, their property portfolio is extremely diverse.

This variety means that no single solution can be applied across the whole portfolio, instead individual business require bespoke solutions to reducing energy consumption. Despite these challenges, over the last three years Mitchells and Butlers have achieved a 15% reduction in their energy consumption relative to the volume of food sales.

Martin Hills, Vice-Chairman, The Energy Managers Association

Martin has worked in civil engineering projects and the heavy building materials industry before moving to energy & energy efficiency. He works to reduce costs across the 400+ site portfolio of CEMEX UK and has a responsibility for almost anything to do with Energy. Currently, Martin sees his biggest challenge as promoting a fair deal for consumers which can sometimes be a frustrating task.
